THE PROGRAM
- Bridge Courses: prepare children in the 6-11 years age group who are out of school for entering the formal school system
- Pratham Education Center (PEC): are to educate children where there are no schools or the schools are overcrowded
- Community Children's Centers (CCC): combine activities of formal learning with library, reading, drawing and other fun things.
THE JOURNEY SO FAR...
- 9000 children have come under the education net
- Currently there over 180 classes running in Jaipur of which 150 are bridge courses, 32 PEC's and 1 CCC.
- Pratham works in 32 wards (areas) out of 59 wards present in Jaipur
- In 12 wards (areas) out of 57, most children are in school
- Last year over 3400 children were mainstreamed
- Plan to have every child in 32 wards in school and learning. This will essentially cover all out of school children.
INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT
- A school has been constructed in Kunda Mahal, Jhalana.
- There are plans for construction work in 5 schools and convert the CCC's to PEC's during the year 2003.
