Associate- Technology Development, Learning with Vodafone

Pratham is an innovative learning organization created to improve the quality of education in India. As one of the largest non-governmental organizations in the country, Pratham focuses on high-quality, low-cost, and replicable interventions to address gaps in the education system. Established in 1995 to provide education to children in the slums of Mumbai, Pratham has grown both in scope and geographical coverage. Pratham is a widely recognized organization, having received notable awards such as the WISE Prize for Innovation, Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship, the Henry R Kravis Prize in Leadership, and the CNN-IBN Indian of the Year for Public Service.

Project Summary

Learning with Vodafone is a digital education initiative being implemented by Pratham Education Foundation and funded by Vodafone India Foundation and Indus Towers Ltd. The programme is an innovative teacher-centric technological intervention which is currently working with 2,500+ schools across eight states with the aim of equipping teachers with innovative teaching practices and ability to integrate technology in their classrooms. The programme has developed a holistic teacher portal Gurushala to take this vision forward.

Position Summary

The position of ‘Assoicate-Technology’ will form part of technology development team that is responsible for handling and managing the programme’s technology solution Gurushala (www.gurushala.co). The incumbent will be responsible for delivering and dealing with technological and operational aspects of the programme implementation including management of overall hardware and software. This position is suitable for candidates who are interested in the design, development and maintenance of educational technology within the social development sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing the overall technology of the programme
  • Coordinate and interact with developers to work on existing and new feature development of (Gurushala)
  • Key responsible for troubleshooting of various day to day issues on (Gurushala) and other technology solutions of the programme
  • Responsible for managing and analyzing the technology back-end reports
  • Managing and coordinating internally for final content upload on (Gurushala)
  • Identify problematic areas in technology and suggest strategic solutions in time
  • Responsible for managing the overall hardware tracking of the programme
  • Responsible for identifying new technologies in the industry as per programme requirement
  • Responsible for conducting and managing the technology pilots
  • Responsible for developing and implementing overall software systems, policies and procedures
  • Procurement of any new hardware in the programme as part of technology
  • Any other work as per requirement of the programme

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in any relevant discipline
  • 1 to 3 years work experience in handling new software/websites as an IT analyst
  • Past experience of handing backend interface of a website is preferable
  • Well aware of new technology trends and developments
  • Knowledge of any one programming language is preferable
  • Ability to work independently and take initiatives in a target driven work environment
  • Good command in written and verbal communication (English and Hindi)

Working Details and Remuneration

  • Remuneration will be commensurate to candidate’s experience and will be within the range of INR 28,000-30,000 gross per month
  • The incumbent will be based in New Delhi and will have to travel regularly across the country
