With a 30-year history, Pratham’s work spans 25 states and includes programs ranging from early and elementary education to youth skilling and the empowerment of girls and women. This is achieved through a combination of efforts: directly working with key stakeholders in communities, as well as through collaborations with state and district-level governments.
In 2023-2024, Pratham reached 9 million children through direct and government partnerships, empowered 3 lakh girls and women through our mothers’ groups and tailored programs, and reached 1.18 lakh youth through vocational and non vocational courses.
Education
Pratham bridges education-related gaps through innovative, cost-effective programs. We work closely with children, schools, families, and communities through direct programs and government partnerships. Pratham believes that strong foundations for learning and development must be established during the early and formative years of a child’s life, as emphasised in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Through play-based pedagogy, low-cost materials, and active involvement of families and communities, Pratham’s Early Years Program fosters growth and development of children, laying the base of lifelong learning.

Pratham has programs to help elementary-grade students “catch up" using the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) methodology in schools and communities. Pratham's flagship “direct" intervention is the Hamara Gaon program. Through the Hamara Gaon initiative, Pratham works in more than 5,000 communities across 18 states of India to raise and sustain basic learning levels of children.

Digital Initiatives
Pratham leverages innovative technology and digital content to enhance learning beyond basics and foster a community-wide learning environment for children. The program focuses on creating tech-enabled solutions to prepare children and youth for school, work, and life.
