Pratham addresses education-related gaps through innovative and cost-effective programs. We engage directly with children, schools, families, and communities, and also work in collaboration with government systems. In our direct programs, instructional and community-based activities are implemented by Pratham teams. Core elements such as technology, measurement and evaluation, and research underpin all our programs, ensuring effectiveness, scalability, and continuous improvement.

Birth-to-3 Years

The Birth-to-3 Years program focuses on early stimulation, nutrition and responsive caregiving by empowering mothers, communities, and Anganwadi systems to effectively engage with children in the first 1,000 days.

Early Years

Pratham believes in the importance of building strong foundations for children aged 3-8 years. This aligns with the goals of the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Through play-based pedagogy, low-cost materials, and active involvement of families and communities, Pratham’s Early Years Program fosters growth and holistic development of children.

Elementary

One of Pratham’s key goals is to enable children aged 6 to 14 to acquire foundational skills quickly and sustainably, so they can meaningfully benefit from further educational opportunities. Using the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach, children catch up on reading and math through group activities that involve schools, families, volunteers, and communities.

Hamara Gaon

Pratham’s Hamara Gaon is a flagship initiative that aims to establish sustainable learning environments in communities. Using the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach, the program focuses on foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) skills for children in Grade 3 and above, and engages mothers, local volunteers, and community members in improving children's learning levels.
