Position Overview
Pratham is seeking a Lead, Learning & Development to build and lead the organisation’s learning and capability development strategy at scale. This is a senior leadership role and the selected candidate will be responsible for strengthening organisational effectiveness by enabling Pratham’s teams across programs, functions, and geographies to continuously build the knowledge, skills, and leadership required. The Lead will provide strategic direction and execution leadership for Pratham’s internal learning ecosystem, including:
- Digital learning through Pratham’s internal platform, Pragyanpath
- Hybrid and in-person capacity-building programs
- Leadership development initiatives
- Capability building across functions and organisational levels
The role requires end-to-end ownership of learning initiatives: from identifying organisational capability needs to designing, delivering, scaling, and evaluating their impact. The Lead will work closely with Pratham’s senior leadership and program teams and will play a critical role in shaping Pratham’s future organisational capacity. The Lead, Learning & Development will also manage and mentor the L&D team reporting to the Head, Organisational Effectiveness. The role will work closely with senior leadership and contribute to organisation-wide capability development priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Define and Drive Pratham’s Learning & Development Strategy
- Identify capability gaps and build structured learning pathways across roles and levels
- Position L&D as a strategic lever for improving program quality and leadership effectiveness
Lead Design and Delivery of Digital, Hybrid, and In-Person Learning Programs
- Oversee the design and delivery of learning initiatives across formats and domains
- Ensure programs are grounded in adult learning principles and contextualised to organisational needs
- Facilitate select leadership learning interventions
Lead and Scale Pragyanpath and the Digital Learning Ecosystem
- Provide strategic direction for Pragyanpath as Pratham’s internal learning platform
- Drive course development, platform adoption, and continuous improvement
- Integrate technology and AI to enhance learning effectiveness and scalability
Ensure End-to-End Ownership of Learning Effectiveness and Impact
- Establish systems to assess learning needs, track engagement, and evaluate impact
- Ensure learning translates into improved performance and organisational effectiveness
- Use data and feedback to continuously strengthen learning initiatives
Build and Lead the Learning & Development Function
- Lead and mentor the L&D team, including content and training roles
- Collaborate with senior leadership and program teams to align learning with organisational priorities
- Build a culture of continuous learning across Pratham
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 12-15 years of professional experience
- Significant experience in Learning & Development, organisational development leadership development, or capacity building
- Demonstrated experience in designing and leading large-scale learning initiatives
- Experience in leading teams and building organisational systems
- Experience in designing and delivering digital and hybrid learning programs
- Experience in working in multi-location organisations and with multiple teams
- Experience in the education, development, or social sector is strongly preferred
Required Skills
To effectively discharge the functions, the selected candidate will need the following skills:
- Strategic thinking and execution capability
- Leadership and team management skills
- Program design and facilitation capability
- Communication skills in English and Hindi
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and work across organisational levels with multiple teams
- Strong project management and execution skills
- Preferred experience building and scaling learning platforms or LMS
- Familiarity with emerging learning technologies, including AI-enabled learning tools, is preferred

Working Details and Remuneration
- Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience
- The selected candidate will be based in New Delhi and will have to travel regularly across the country
- This is an in-office leadership role based at Pratham’s office in New Delhi, with regular travel to program locations across India
