Suman Bhattacharjea, Director (Research), ASER Centre, co-authored this article with Shweta Bhutada and Akanksha Bisht of ASER Centre. Drawing on observations from 24 classrooms across eight states, the article examines how the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is translating into classroom practice and highlights emerging improvements in foundational learning, particularly in government schools. It also emphasises the need to sustain this focus to ensure that all children acquire foundational skills.
